Choose who you want to be

I can understand how you feel, I find that I have an automatic "default" dislike of other people's kids, and could easily let myself be a real scrooge around them because I tend to assume them to be brats until they prove themselves otherwise. Herds of kids running thru the halls at church trigger an automatic scowl and thoughts of undiscipline and lack of respect, friends' children playing cars too loudly under our feet while we're trying to have a conversation make me want to deliver a lecture on being rude, and kids in the grocery store? Let's not even go there...

But then I catch myself with all this hostile negativity bubbling in my gut, and I do NOT want to be THAT person! So I spend a few minutes talking to myself, analyzing what it is that is bothering me about the situation, and trying to see it from their perspective, remembering what it was like to be that age, and trying to sympathize with that poor mom in the supermarket, who knows what everyone else is thinking about her crying kid, and feeling frustrated and powerless to make them stop...and CHOOSING to not be Mrs. Scrooge.

I have 3 kids of my own, who I am absolutely crazy about, BTW...your own kids are ENTIRELY different from "Other People's Kids"...and knowing some really great "OPK's" is really helpful, too (they're out there, few and far between, but they're out there!). Getting to know one or two great kids can do alot to restore your faith in the whole entire race ;-)

All that to say, it's possible to change your attitude by deciding WHO YOU WANT TO BE, and acting accordingly...you may never become Mary Poppins, but you can reprogram your mindset so that you don't have to be Scrooge, either.

I was once a Kid

Anyone who does not like kids or even say they don't, or think they don't, are not a child of God. For Jesus said "Let the Children Come". Jesus also said "Such as these little children is the way we can enter into the Kingdom of Heaven" we have to be as humble has the children. Beside that! Wasn't everyone who became an ADULT had to be a CHILD FIRST. Thank you,

Loving children

If you are saved and by that I mean, you have asked Jesus into your heart, to be The Lord of your Life. Then you could try and look at kids this way: Yes children can get on your nerves by the things they do. But we are God's children. The things we do gets on His nerves at times Im sure. Yet He loves us so much. He desires to know us in an personal way.
You may never get to that point with a child yourself and thats okay but remember that God loves you and puts up with alot form people. Try to look at a child with love. Of course this is easier said than done and will require prayer. This does not mean you are a horrilble person by the way.

How to start enjoying children

Sometimes if a person has bad nerves or something like that than it is hard for them to be around children because of the noise. There's a difference in not liking them and not being able to handle the noice if it is because of bad nerves. Just remember, Jesus said, Let the little children come unto me.' Maybe you had some bad experience in your childhood, what I would do is pray and ask God to start showing me what I need to do in order to feel different. Try and look at the positive side of them instead of the negative. Children are so innocent and have so much trust and love. I believe that if you was to start really pouring out your heart to God and do something that shows God you want to change, such as putting action to it, like maybe buying gifts for low income children, ect... that God will intervene in your situation.

Be kind to others

The Bible says that children are a gift from God. You were once a child yourself so I think you should learn to like them. God would be very pleased.
