Is the fourth commandment not applicable today, when all of the rest is? If so, then why are Christians worshiping on Sunday and not on a Saturday, which is the seventh day?

what does your bible say?
My response to the last response is that where does it say that it "doesn't matter to God" what day we worship Him on. If you read your bible, from cover to cover, God is a very specific God. He continuosly states His sabbath day is the seventh day, and never hints that it could be transferred to any other day. The idea that it doesn't matter to God is a man made opinion...not biblical. I agree the commandments are about the heart. If you truly love God, you will feel in your heart the need to spend time with Him on the day that He blessed(the seventh day). It is a time to stop from all your daily activities and work, and spend personal time with Him. God made the sabbath day for man. So that we would stop from our crazy busy lives and commune with Him. Please don't forget that the only commandment that says "REMEMBER" is the one commandment that many Christians want to "FORGET" by saying that it doesnt matter. When God says something, especially as a commandment, He means it. For example, God told Naman to dunk himself in the water 7 times in order to be healed. Naman didn't get healed on the 4th, 5th, or 6th time, but only on the seventh. This is just one example and there are countless other examples throughout the bible in both the new and old testaments. I hope you take into consideration what I have written above. Let the Spirit guide you in your search for the truth with much love i write. |

Tough Question
Hi Sahana, When Jesus was asked "Teacher, which kind of commandment is great and important (the principal kind) in the Law? [Some commandments are light--which are heavy?" Jesus replied "... You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself." He further explained that "These two commandments sum up and upon them depend all the Law and the Prophets." (Matt 22: 36-40) That means that the whole point of any of the commandments is not the tradition itself, but the heart behind the tradition. God does not want our works, He wants our heart. He does not care what day of the week we give it to Him, as long as He knows that it is Him. Jesus Himself was often criticized for working on the Sabbath. But, He did not reserve His time with God for the Sabbath - We often read about Him preaching and teaching with no mention it being the Sabbath and no church in sight. He was often found alone seeking God through prayer and worship Himself proving that our walk with God is not dependent on days of the week, but our hearts towards Him. I hope that helps. God Bless!
