I am a Christian woman who is married with no children.

God’s Goodness.

God is so good. He wants the best for us. He wants us to fulfil our God given calling. He thinks thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). He wants us to be overcomers and victors because we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37) through Him. He looks at us and sees us as winners not losers. This is because He sees Jesus in us. His motivation towards us is love because God is Love (1 John 4:8).

I had to change my wrong thinking about God’s character. I thought that He was motivated by the need to punish me that is why I had suffered in my life. But I realise that thinking was wrong. He is primarily motivated by Love and everything that has happened to me has been filtered through His Love. I also have to take responsibility for my bad choices which left me open to attack by the enemy. But even then He only allowed me to be tempted to what I could withstand (1 Corinthians 10:13) then He provided me with a way out.

When I go through trials and tribulations He orchestrates everything so that I come out as a better person. It all depends on whether I respond to the trial or tribulation in the way God wants me to.

I had a disability that affected my attitude. I tended to see everything in a negative light even though I was a Christian. However I had a revelation of God’s goodness so I changed my confession to one of faith. I began to look for God’s favour and goodness in every situation. I saw His hand at work in my life. I realised that it gave God the glory to see things this way. It pleased Him and I felt His smile upon me.

The life scripture that Jesus gave me for my situation was 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you; my strength is made perfect in your weakness.” I helped me put my suffering in perspective. God is so good that He doesn’t leave me without help. He gives me His grace and strength to help me in my weakness. He gives me His Holy Spirit.

The glory of God is His goodness (Exodus 33:18-21). I have experienced His goodness in my life. He has been faithful even when I was faithless. He has been watching over me every step of the way. He has never given up caring, protecting and providing for me. His glory or goodness has been the lifter of my head (Psalm 3:3). His tenderness and love have enabled me to walk confidently knowing that He loves me. He has manifested that love to me in practical ways. He has helped me. He has enabled me to stand tall as His beloved daughter because I know His hand, His goodness, in my life.

The practical ways that I know His glory or goodness in my life are numerous. When I drive I pray for His help then He shows me where to go, what to do and protects me on the road. I pray every day for wisdom, protection and provision and He provides me with those things. The wisdom He gives me enables me to find solutions to problems. For instance I may be organising a group so He shows me what to do to be effective in helping that group. He gave me the idea of sending out notices a week earlier to remind the group members to meet on a certain day. He also blesses me with much more. He provides me with opportunities to share the Gospel and encourage others. He provides me with a good job. God is constantly working behind the scenes for me. I don’t know everything He is doing but I trust Him.

Knowing God’s goodness has enabled me to trust Him more. It has enabled me to know Him more intimately because I know His character. An important part of intimacy with God for me is knowing how He has worked in my life and recognising His hand in my circumstances. Knowing His goodness and intimacy with Him have been complimentary aspects of my walk with God. It is because of His goodness that I have been drawn to Him. It’s the goodness of God that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4).

I just want to encourage everyone reading this article to try and look for God’s goodness in your every day lives. You will be surprised with the hand of His blessing. You will receive a revelation of God’s goodness. This will help you to be more faith-filled in your confession. It will help you to walk closer with God. This has helped me I’m sure it will help you.

I pray that this article will speak to people and encourage them to walk closer with God.
