In our society, being a stay at home mom is often looked down upon. Taking care of our families is sometimes not seen as important as working in the "world." As women, that can put an enormous amount of pressure on us, and leave those of us who chose to stay at home feeling left out or unimportant.
Here is what one Christian stay at home mom had to say about her experience being a stay at home Mom.
I often feel as a stay at home mom
I have no real purpose.

Stay at home mum
Yes you do have purpose!! Being a stay at home mum is hard work , but so rewarding. I consider it a blessing to be able to raise my family and be at home to provide for their needs. Be encouraged if you are at home raising your children and you choose not to work outside the home, you do have a purpose... everything you put into your children as they grow, you will get out of them when they grow up. God bless |

Thank you Ameerah
I struggle with this frequently and have just quit my second job within one month. You think God is trying to tell me something? I thought that getting a job would help make things easier on our family financially. It might, but it makes me miserable. That's what led me to this study. I wanted to find something that deals with the struggles women face in today's world while encouraging us to be that Prov. 31 woman that God has planned. I'm praying that my getting on my knees will give me better insight when I'm on my feet. Thank you for your comment about finding ministry work versus material work. I think God's been rattling my cage in that direction too. :) May God bless all you women who are seeking His direction for your lives. |

You are not alone
I really want to tell you that you are not alone. Many stay at home moms feel that way because of the common belief that the work done outside of the home is more important than work done inside of the home. But, I must ask you, what would God say about this new way of thinking that is sweeping out world? In lesson 2 of our Proverbs 31 Bible Study, Let Her Works Praise Her, we talked about God's view of serving our families. I really think that short lesson may help. Something else that may help is praying and asking God if there are any local ministries that He would have you serve. Even 2 or 3 hours a week on a Saturday morning can give you a chance to serve God's people and feel more like a part of His bigger plan. God Bless, Ameerah |
