Bible Lesson on Sarah

Myrtle's response to our free Bible lesson on Sarah...

We as women can learn a great deal from Sarah. There are a number of times that we question God and want things to be done in our time and NOT in His. We pray and ask for things and, rather than awaiting its manifestation from God, we want it to happen in our time forgetting that God's time is always the right time. My prayer today is, that we allow that still small voice to talk to us and be quite open and receptive to its promptings knowing that as we do so all is well in our lives, worlds and affairs.

The greatest thing that we learned from Sarah in this lesson is one of total dependence. It might have taken her years to get there but what is most important in this lesson is that she got there before she died. We likewise can take a page out of Sarah's books and learn to trust God more than we ever trusted Him before knowing that as we do so He opens so many doors for us to enter.

When did Sarah believe?
by: Carolyn

Thank you for a wonderful study of Sarah.
I have often wondered when was the moment that Sarah believed that Abraham's God was her God too. I think she had a complete devotion to Abraham and had faith in his faith, but I do not believe she trusted Him when she gave Hagar to Abram. Obviously God was making a point of the sacredness and purpose of monogamy. His call to Abraham to be the father of the promised race (and promised Savior) would come through Sarah alone. But God had to wait for Sarah to come to faith in Him. She eavesdropped and heard the visitors proclaim the birth in one year. Did she then believe God could do the impossible? Maybe she began to experience the physical evidence in the pleasures of a renewed body (hers and Abraham's).
Soon after we learn of their encounter with Abimalech, and Abraham's fears resurface. He and Sarah continue their story of being brother and sister (half, as it was) so that Abimalech will not harm them. Once again God intervenes to protect her and the pureness of his promise through her and Abraham's union. I believe this was the time when Sarah believed in God as her own God; and nine months later Isaac was born.
I would very much like your comments. My email is rcallen1@swbell.net.
Could Sarah's lack of faith brought on the long wait?

Hi Myrtle
I really enjoyed your post it was really good and you're so right God's timing is perfect in every situation we find ourselves in. The problems start when we don't want to wait on God for you said it well He will most certainly get us there to the place of peace and a stronger trust in him.
