Lesson 1: Does Every Christian Have Access to Spiritual Gifts?

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

I only have one goal for this lesson of our Spiritual Gifts Bible Study. To establish in your heart beyond any doubt that:

A spiritual gift is given to each of us
so we can help each other.

If you get nothing else out of any other Bible study that you go through on The Hem of His Garment, I really want you to believe and receive this promise.

God Has A Spiritual Gift for Each of Us
Including YOU!

I think, sometimes, it is easy to feel small in this great big world. But, you are not small to God. In fact, God has hand picked a specific Spiritual Gift just for you.

However, He has given each one of us
a special gift
through the generosity of Christ…
to equip God’s people to do his work
and build up the church,
the body of Christ.
-Ephesians 4:7,11,12 (NLT)

I truly believe that, if you grab hold of this, it will revolutionize your life and supercharge your destiny!

The Bible draws a parallel between your physical body and the Body of Christ. As a part of the Body of Christ, you have been given a specific spiritual function.

The human body has many parts,
but the many parts make up one whole body.
So it is with the body of Christ...
we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit,
and we all share the same Spirit.
-1Corinthians 12:12 (NLT)

If we continue with this comparison, we find one major similarity. God did not create any part of your physical body without a gift or purpose that is required for the whole body to function properly.

The same holds true for when He masterfully created you as a part of the Body of Christ.

All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church:
first are apostles,
second are prophets,
third are teachers,
then those who do miracles,
those who have the gift of healing,
those who can help others,
those who have the gift of leadership,
those who speak in unknown languages (tongues).

We see that the question is no longer Does the Holy Spirit hold a spiritual gift for you as a Christian. It becomes Which one will you be blessed with in order to bless the Body.
