Adventures in Odyssey Life Lessons Series #7: Honesty

A lie might get you out of trouble for a moment, but it will always come back to haunt you. Follow these exciting adventures as Whit, Connie and the rest of your friends from Odyssey learn that honesty really IS the best policy.
This free Children's Bible Study on Lying is the first lesson of your free Christian Character Education course.

I recommend that you actually sit down with your child and do the lesson together so that you can answer any questions that they might have.

Helpful Hint:

Kids learn by repetion.  So, it's very important to reinforce what they will learn in this honesty Bible study over time.  This is a way for you to help them "renew their minds" to be in line with God's Word.

A fun way to build upon what you'll teach them here would be to introduce a fun Christian cartoon or movie about the importance of honesty.  That way they are learning and having fun at the same time.

Most kids really LOVE the 321 Penguins! Christian children's series.   In their fun cartoon "Moon Menace on Planet Tell-A-Lie," your child will learn that the truth really does set us all free.  Not only will your kids enjoy it, but they will be learning how to stand for Christ regardless of their age.

Remember:

Make time to sow your values into your kids today, before someone else beats you to it!

Lying Bible Study:

Is it OK to Tell a Fib?

Scripture Reading Time!

Colossians 3:9 & 10 (NLT)
Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

When we decide to live for God, His love makes us a brand new person! We become God’s children. As we learn more about Him every day, we are supposed to act more like Him.

God does not lie and He does not want us to lie. When we lie, it makes God sad.

Why? Because Lies hurt people.

Lies hurt the person being lied to. They feel hurt that they were not told the truth.

Lies hurt the person telling the lie. It separates them from their Father God’s Love.

If you realize you are telling a lie – Stop Quick!

Let’s Talk About It!

  1. What does God tell us about lying to each other in Colossians?
  2. What happens to us when we decide to live for God?
  3. Who are we supposed to be like?
  4. How does it make God feel when we lie? Why?
  5. What should we do if we realize we are telling a lie?
