Throughout each of our walks with God, He takes us from mountain top to mountain top, and from glory to glory. But, to move from one mountain top to another always requires one thing of us - CHANGE!
And, as creatures of habit, change is never easy. It requires us to make a commitment to God, and to ourselves...and make it stick...permanently.
And, whether that change is removing a specific sin from our lives, delving deeper into God's Word, tithing to our local church, or simply spending more time in prayer - It's never easy.
Why Is Change So HARD?
Why is it so hard to make changes Stick? We know in our hearts what changes need to be made so that we can continue becoming the person God created us to be.But, like Paul said,
For I do not do the good I want to do,
but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing."
(Romans 7:18b-19 NIV)
Why? Well, there are many reasons. But one of the main ones is because our enemy, Satan, knows our weaknesses. He knows exactly what traps to lay in order to slowly draw us away from God's best for us.
*Which friends to send by to encourage us back into that sin.
*or Exactly when to whisper that lie that you can't afford to tithe this month...but you will try again next time.
How Can Christian Accountability Help?
First off, statistics show that by simply writing down a goal, we make ourselves much more likely to accomplish it.Christian accountability takes it one step farther because you are not only writing it down personally, but making a public declaration.
You are stepping out and inviting other believers to stand with you in prayer as you reach out to the Lord.
You are linking arms with a group of God's children, and joining your faith with ours as we all strive to become the people God created us to be.
Make a Commitment to God...and to Yourself
God has a plan for your life - A destiny for you alone. But, you're not just along for the ride!
We must all follow God's Word and His Spirit's leadings to receive what He has in store for us. And that requires CHANGE!
I personally promise to stand with you in prayer as you step out on faith to make your change.
